SAS Charity raffle

NIU Student Accountancy Society is holding a charity raffle from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Thursday in Wirtz Hall and the Pow Wow Cafeteria in the Holmes Student Center. Tickets are $4 and the proceeds will go to PADS. Prizes include a 19-inch color television, a VCR and a portable compact disc player.

Journalists’ meeting

NIU’s chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists will meet tonight at 8:45 p.m. in Cole Hall basement. All members are required to attend and interested persons are invited.

Lagoon renamed

NIU’s West Lagoon has been formally renamed the Anthony Lorusso Lagoon, after the recently retired campus planner who devoted 38 years to NIU.

Guest book preview

A guest will preview “Today’s Children’s Books: A Showcase” at the Friends of NIU Libraries meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Founders Memorial Library’s lower level staff lounge. Jan Shoup of Magic Tree Book Shop in Oak Park, Ill. will be the speaker.

Cine Club movie

The Campus Activities Board Cine Club Committee will present “A Year of Quiet Sun” at 8:45 p.m. Thursday in Cole Hall 101. Admission is free.

School book fair

Jefferson Elementary School, McCormick Drive, DeKalb, will hold its annual book fair Nov. 7 and 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Funds raised will provide new books for the school library and new educational software for the school’s computers.

Support group to meet

The DeKalb Area Support Group for Multiple Sclerosis will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the DeKalb Senior Citizens’ Center, South Fourth and Grove Streets.

The guest speaker will be Tim Dunlop, a physical therapist in the DeKalb area. Dunlop will share information about physical therapy and multiple sclerosis.

‘Printmakers’ on display

“NIU Printmakers,” an exhibition using etching and lithography, will be on display until Dec. 23 at the NIU Art Gallery in Chicago, 212 W. Superior St. Gallery hours are noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

A public reception for the artists will be held Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the gallery. For more information, call (312) 642-6010.

Miss Coed America

The Miss Coed America Program is searching for the ideal young lady to represent college coeds everywhere. The competition is open to all single young ladies between the ages of 18 and 24 enrolled as undergraduates in a college or university.
