Hockey club facing DePaul

The NIU hockey club looks to continue its winning ways this Friday (9:30 p.m.) by taking on DePaul at Riverview Ice Rink in Rockford.

NIU is currently 5-1 going into the weekend. Last Saturday, the hockey club knocked off the Milwaukee School of Engineering by a 7-1 tally. Backup goalie Vic Matoni played well defensively for NIU, while the offense was paced by Nick Raneri. Raneri scored three goals for NIU. Rolhf Pike snaked in two more NIU goals, and John Danarski contributed one more.

The next day, NIU faced IIT in Chicago and handed it a 6-4 loss after having trailed 4-2 in the third period. Hockey club goals were scored by Raneri, Ross Laufter, Keith Lukasik, Danarski, Pike and Reese Stobart.

NIU scored three unanswered goals in the third period to overcome IIT. Starting goalie Glenn Vanco worked the net for NIU in the IIT contest.
