A DeKalb resident reported two male assailants robbed him Saturday at about 7 p.m. while walking down 12th Street, DeKalb Police said.

The victim said he heard someone behind him, felt a tap on his shoulder and was struck in the face with a fist when he turned around, police said.

The two assailants continued to chase the resident across the street to the front yard of 827 N. 12th St., and knocked the victim to the ground while kicking him in the head, police said.

One of the assailants reached into the victim’s back pocket and took various items, during which time the victim’s glasses were broken, police said. Damages totaled $175 and the victim refused medical treatment.

DeKalb Police declined to comment on whether an investigation would be initiated.
