Class, not test
October 2, 1989
Congratulations on your editorial titled “Test can’t provide education,” of Sept. 28. You are correct that a crammed for test cannot provide a quality educational experience.
The constitutional test was, in my opinion, imposed by the state legislation on high schools of this state and it has no place in higher education.
As you point out, however, all citizens of our state need information about the workings of their government and how they can influence the policy process.
I support fully your call to have POLS 100 made a part of the core curriculum requirements and urge all students to make it part of their general education while here at NIU.
