Alphi Phi Omega rush

Alpha Phi Omega will open its Coed Rush to any student interested at 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in the Holmes Student Center Heritage Room. The fraternity also will sponsor a campus recycling drive Saturday.

Journalism society meeting

Are you interested in making contacts in the professional fields of journalism and communications, discussing recent events in journalism with fellow students, enjoying films and helping with fundraisers? NIU’s student chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists can help you learn more about the field of journalism and meet other students interested in journalism.

Minority job fair

The National Black MBA Association will host its 1989 Job Fair and Student Mini-Conference for minority students from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at the Palmer House in Chicago. Students are required to bring a one-page typed resume to the Job Fair.

Latin American concert

Los Folkloristas will present a free public concert at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the NIU Music Building’s Boutell Concert Hall. The group’s program will include narrative explanations of the songs and provide insight into Latin American culture, folklore and history.

ISAC art competition

The Illinois Student Assistance Commission, formerly the Illinois State Scholarship Commission, invites all currently enrolled full- and part_time Illinois college students to participate in an art competition.

Participants are to design a logo that represents the commission’s main objective of helping students seek a college education through its 12 financial assistance programs. Exercise classes

Exercise classes for DeKalb County Farm Bureau M and A_plus members begin Oct. 9. Low impact exercise and relaxation classes can be registered for at the farm bureau office, 315 N. Sixth St, DeKalb.

Self-Esteem program

Self-Esteem and the Transitional Student will be discussed at the Brown Bag Luncheon from 12 p.m to 1 p.m. on Oct. 11. The program is sponsored by the University Resources for Women in Wirtz House.

Fall music concert

Members from the City Musick ensemble from Chicago will be featured in the School of Music’s final concert for the fall season. The concert will be presented Oct. 22 in the Boutell Concert Hall.
