Give of yourself to victims

After the recent disasters that have struck the U.S., The American Red Cross is doing everything it can to put the lives of the many victims of Hurricane Hugo and the California earthquake back together, but it needs everyone’s help.

Most of us have only experienced their pain through the news media, others have had the misfortune of losing relatives and friends in these tragic events. But we all share one thing in common, the responsibility to help fellow human beings get back on their feet.

Many people have been left homeless, without any of their personal belongings—and their only hope is us.

The Red Cross is asking people to give donations since its disaster relief funds are running dry. If another natural disaster should occur this year, organizations who help the victims, like the Red Cross, will have limited resources.

Granted not everyone is able to contribute money, but anything you can spare would be greatly appreciated by the Red Cross and the disaster victims. If you are unable to donate money, perhaps some of your time could be used to help the DeKalb County Red Cross chapter.

No one likes to hear people beg for money and/or assistance, but desperate times call for desperate measures. There might still be people trapped under fallen structures in California and young children in need of food and shelter. Their survival might depend on our help.
