Community dance school

NIU’s community dance school will begin a new 12-week class session today. Creative movement for three to six year olds, beginning ballet for seven to 12 year olds, teen jazz, intermediate ballet and jazz are offered. The fee is $55 per person. For more information call 753-1407.
Women’s organization
The National Organization for Women will conduct an organizational meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Wesley Foundation, 633 W. Locust in DeKalb. All interested individuals are invited to attend. For program information call 756-3212.
‘Top Brass’ concert
Students and Faculty will be performing together in a concert at 8 p.m. on Wednesday. The concert is called “Top Brass” and features the talents of the brass faculty and the top brass students of the music department.
The concert will feature the works of Strauss and Wagner performed by the brass ensembles and also organist Robert Reeves, organ professor at NIU. The concert is open to the public at no charge and will be performed in the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall.
Breastfeeding discussed
Suggestions about nutrition for nursing mothers and their families and information about weaning the breastfed baby are topics that will be discussed at the DeKalb La Leche League meeting. The meeting is at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1915 N. First Street.
Club’s fall reception
NIU President John La Tourette will host the Fall Reception for the University Women’s Club faculty, staff, spouses and retired women.
Board members will collect dues and register new and old members at the reception which will begin at 3 p.m. and end at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Student’s work featured
Brian Drendel, member of the Golden Key National Honor Society at NIU, recently presented his research paper, “A Study of the Orbital Motions of Jupiter’s Galilean Satellites” during the Student Scholastic Showcase of the 1989 Golden Key National Convention held in Atlanta, Ga.
Ensembles to perform
The Gaping Maw, a Chicago based vocal quartet and Bal Tinne, an instrumental ensemble will be featured in a concert presented by the British Isles in the Boutell Concert Hall. The concert will begin at 3 p.m. on Oct. 8.
