Peat, Marwick consultant

Gary Behnke, a senior consultant for Peat, Marwick, Main & Co., will speak at 3 p.m. Monday in Wirtz Hall 307. Behnke will speak on “What is consulting and who is Peat, Marwick, Main & Co.?” The presentation is open to the public and sponsored by NIU’s Association of Graduate Business Students.

The company will conduct interviews on campus Oct. 20 for interested December graduates with a MBA degree as a consultant or a MS degree in finance.

Instrument, voice classes

NIU’s Community Music School offers instrument and voice classes for pre-schoolers through adults.

All classes are in the NIU Music Building and begin next week. Classes will end the week of Dec. 11. For more information, call 753-1450.

Circle K-D playnights

Circle K-D will conclude their playnights at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Circle K-D grounds. Food stands are located on the grounds and admission is free for spectators.

Secretaries International

The Kishwaukee Chapter of Professional Secretaries International will hold its first meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The meeting will be a progressive dinner at 1110 Holmes Place, DeKalb.

Chamber music concert

A Chicago concert of contemporary chamber music will feature composers and performers from NIU’s School of Music at 8 p.m. on Sept. 16.

The concert is free and will be held at the NIU’s near northside Chicago art gallery, 212 W. Superior St. The program is sponsored by the School of Music, the College of Visual and Performing Arts, NIU’s Graduate School and the Illinois Arts Council.

Self-improvement seminar

DeKalb’s Lutheran Campus Ministry will offer a class for people interested in improving their vitality, relieving stress and stiffness and learning ways to avoid pain.

The class will be held from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays from Sept. 19 to Nov. 28. The fee for the class is $79 and the class is limited to 15 members. For more information, call 756-6033.

Healthy eating class

“What’s in it for you?” is a class designed to educate shoppers who want to modify their diets for weight loss or are interested in lowering their cholesterol.

The Kishwaukee Hospital-sponsored class will tour the Eagle Food Store on South Fourth Street, DeKalb, and focus attention on reading labels for healthy eating.‘

The first class will be at 9 a.m. on Oct. 11. The registration fee is $10. Those interested can sign up at the hospital.

NIU graduate awarded

NIU graduate Lisa Ripley has been awarded an internship by the Financial Accounting Foundation. Ripley received an NIU master’s degree in accounting in May and was employed by Motorola, Inc., in Schaumburg.
