Newman adds new ministers

Newman Catholic Student Center has added three new pastoral associates to its ministerial team. They are Sister Carla Rutter, Kathy Engelken and Marie Sellers.
Rutter coordinates the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults program, teaches in the Religious Studies Program and coordinates the Outreach program for students on campus. She is also oranizing the pre_cana program at Newman.
Before coming to Newman, she completed a one_year sabbatical of study at Catholic Theological Union of Chicago and Mundelein College. Rutter has been Vocation Director for her order, Sisters of the Humility of Mary, and a campus minister at Kent State University in Ohio. She holds a mater’s degree in religious education from Boston College.
Engelken coordinates the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine and Justice and Peace programs. Previously, she was a campus minister at Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove, Ill. She is pursuing a master’s degree at Loyola University.
Sellers, the director of liturgy and music, comes from Resurrection Parish in Randolph, New Jersey and St. Vincent’s Academy in Newark. She also was involved with campus ministry at Catholic University of American in Washington, D.C., where she earned her B.A. degree in music.
