UPs provide protection, service

The University Police provide protection and service to the NIU community at all times. To meet this commitment, they use vehicle and foot patrols, respond to calls for assistance, enforce traffic laws and parking regulations, aid the sick and injured, conduct programs on personal safety and crime prevention and cooperate with other law enforcement agencies and NIU offices in a continuing attempt to make the campus a safe place for all.

In addition, UP’s offer assistance and information in the areas of locked vehicles, annoying phone calls, sexual assault awareness and personal property protection. The department also coordinates the Late Night Ride Service. This student-funded service is provided by the Student Association Mass Transit Board.

The UP offices are located in the Public Safety Building adjacent to the University Health Service Building. Anyone may request assistance from the UP Department by calling 753-1212 or the emergency 911 number.
