NIU students can get in shape with the help of free aerobic sessions sponsored by the Office of Campus Recreation. Sessions begin 12:10 p.m., 4:45 p.m., and 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday in the activity room of the student recreation center.
Students, faculty, staff, and community members can register for the fall fitness programs, including various levels of aerobic sessions and yoga, at the main service desk of the student recreation center. Tai Chi, a new program, will also be offered. For more information, call 753-0231.
Auditions for the NIU Choral Organizations are being held Tuesday through Friday in the Music Building. The Concert Choir, University Chorus, Madrigal Singers and the “Northern Lights” Show Choir all have openings for experienced and inexperienced students.

Meteorology students from NIU placed third among 16 colleges and universities in the latest National Weather Forecasting Contest.
Three NIU students were awarded top honors for forecasting weather for a specific U.S. location: Brian Pierce of Streator, Bruce Entwistle of Freeport, and Mark Lingle of Schaumburg. Contestants were required to prepare daily forecasts for seven different cities throughout the United States.
The University Police Department and the DeKalb Police Department will hold free bicycle registration on Tuesday, Sept. 5 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Lincoln Hall South Service Drive and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Stevenson Towers North Service Drive.
Bicycles can also be registered Wednesday, Sept. 6 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Douglas Hall East Area and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Gilbert Hall on the southeast patio.
