‘Future of World Economics’

Mr. Clifford Luxion, business development manager for Wil-Freds Construction Company of Naperville, Ill., will lead a discussion entitled “Future Shock—The Future of World Economics” at 7 p.m. Thursday in room 156 of the Psychology-Math building. The lecture and discussion is sponsored by The Bahais of DeKalb and is free to the public.
Graduates receive recognition
Recent NIU graduates Kathleen Brigham and Sheryl Wills received national recognition for their participation in the fifth annual Mathematical Contest in Modeling.
Of the 600 participants in the international competition, Brigham and Wills received the highest rating of “meritorious,” higher than the ratings received by teams from Harvard University and the University of Michigan.
Chemistry student honored
The Chemical Industries Council of Illinois (CIC) awarded its CIC Undergraduate Scholarship Award for scholastic excellence in the study of chemistry to NIU student Helen J. Huffaker. Huffaker is majoring in bio-chemistry.
Gallery hosts DeKalb artist
The paintings of DeKalb artist Donna Simpson will be on display at the Newman Center Gallery from now until August 15. For more information call 758-4409.
WLBK/WDEK national finalists
The National Association of Broadcasters in Washington, D.C. has selected WLBK/WDEK as finalists for its Crystal Award, which is presented to radio stations across the country that excel in community and public service. They were the only radio stations from Illinois chosen this year as finalists and were cited for “good traditional community service in programming and outreach.” The final 10 winners will be announced on September 16.
Logan receives 7K scholarship
The 1989 annual 7K scholarship award sponsored by the Seven K. Construction Company of Northfield, Ill., on behalf of NIU’s technology department was presented to Gregory A. Logan. Logan, a technology major at NIU received the scholarship for exceptional academic achievement.
Student center hosts functions
