Black Choir anniversary

The NIU Black Choir will celebrate its 20th anniversary this weekend, beginning with a reception for alumni Friday at 7 p.m. in room 171 of the Music Building.

A choir rehearsal with alumni is scheduled for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in room 173 of the Music Building, followed by an anniversary celebration at 7:30 p.m. in the Holmes Student Center’s Regency Room. The Anniversary Concert will be Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Duke Ellington Ballroom in the student center.

Hunger drive cleanup

The NIU Campaign Against Hunger will hold a campus cleanup Saturday to raise money to fight hunger and homelessness. Half of the proceeds will go to national and international hunger projects, and the remaining funds will go to local projects such as Feed Our Older DeKalb and the PADS homeless shelter.

Annual Springtree Runs

The 10th Annual Springtree 3K and 10K Runs are scheduled for Sunday at noon. Check-in and race day registration begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Student Recreation Center. Both runs will begin on Lincoln Drive and finish inside the rec center.

There are eight age divisions for men and women. The entry fee is $8 for NIU students and those under 17, and $10 for others. There will be a $2 increase in registration fees on the day of the race. Call 753-0231 for more information.

Learning Center raffle

The Children’s Learning Center day care facility will hold a fund-raising raffle Monday. Tickets cost $1 and can be purchased from parents, staff, board members or at the CLC office, 715 S. First St. Prizes include a video cassette recorder, compact disc player and a personal stereo.
