Campus food drive

The Sigma Chi fraternity is sponsoring an all-campus food drive today to assist the Salvation Army’s efforts to feed DeKalb’s needy. Other organizations taking part in the project include all IFC fraternities and sororities, all Black Greek Council organizations, the Black Student Union and OLAS.
Volunteers should meet at the Sigma Chi house, 910 Hillcrest. The drive will be conducted in two sessions, one from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., and another from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Anyone interested in helping can call Bram Hornstein at 756-9754.
Environmental Protection info.
The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency will hold an informational meeting on the proposed rules for Illinois livestock waste regulations Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to noon in the DeKalb County Farm Bureau Building, 315 N. Sixth St.
Golden Key Trivia Bowl
The NIU Golden Key National Honor Society is looking for students to compete in the Golden Key Trivia Bowl, which will begin next week. The contest is open to all students and there is a $1 entrance fee for each participant. All proceeds will be donated to charity.
The event is a campus-wide trivia contest with questions provided by NIU professors on a variety of subjects. Sign up at the Honors House or Recreation Center by Friday. For more information, call Brian Drendel at 748-3480.
Car wash fundraiser
The Finance Student Advisory Board is sponsoring a car wash fundraiser for finance professor Gerald Kuhn, who has Lou Gehrig’s disease, Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Illini Tire Co., 1031 W. Lincoln Hwy. For more information, call Alan Dubrow at 756-1568.
‘Ormindo’ to be performed
The Midwest premier of Cavilli’s opera “Ormindo” will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Music Building recital hall. The performance will be sung in English by members of NIU’s Opera Workshop.
The opera is described as having both emotional and comical scenes. The performance is free. To reserve seats, call 753-0537.
Public relations career day
The Public Relations Student Society of America is sponsoring a career day Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Room 210 of Reavis Hall.
Speakers are scheduled for 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Topics will include special events in the public relations field, a presentation of case studies, the future of public relations and obtaining membership in the Public Relations Society of America.
