Sorority to collect donations

Kappa Delta sorority members will collect donations Thursday for the National Committee for the Prevention of Child Abuse in Cole Hall as part of their annual Shamrock Project. Members also will collect money Saturday at the St. Charles mall.
Tan Lines Contest
The NIU chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America will hold their Sixth Annual Tan Lines Contest at Otto’s Thursday at 10 p.m. More than $200 worth of prizes will be awarded to male and female participants. All proceeds will be donated to Feed Our Older DeKalb.
Summer Employment Fair
Students seeking summer jobs can visit NIU’s Summer Employment Fair Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Duke Ellington Ballroom in the Holmes Student Center.
Admission is free and representatives of 61 businesses, both in and out of state, will attend.
Egyptian art lectures
A lecture entitled, “Egyptian Painting in the Armana Period: Its Antecedents and Effects” will be given Thursday at 4 p.m. in Room 102 of the Visual Arts Building.
William Peck, curator of ancient art at the Detroit Institute of the Arts and professor of art history at Wayne State University in Detroit, also will speak at 8:40 p.m. in Auditorium 100 of the art building on “Egyptian Drawing: Linear Basis of Arts”.
Farm Bureau conference
Dean Kleckner, president of the American Farm Bureau Federation, will speak at a press conference Thursday at 2 p.m. about recommendations to President Bush and Congress on reducing the federal deficit while promoting economic growth.
The public is invited to the conference at the DeKalb County Farm Bureau Building, 315 N. Sixth St.
