December 12, 1988
Many NIU organizations have held their annual holiday events early because of final examinations this week, but some local groups will continue to hold events throughout the season.
The Greater DeKalb Partnership will sponsor a Santa Claus House Dec. 17 and Dec. 22 through Dec. 24 in the parking lot between Second and Third streets in downtown DeKalb.
Open hours for the Santa Claus House are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the first four days and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Christmas Eve, said Karen Remen, vice president of the Greater DeKalb Partnership.
The Greater DeKalb Partnership also has sponsored the Christmas decoration of Lincoln Highway. Remen said the street is decorated from First to Fourth streets with lighted trees and holiday banners.
Janine Kehoe, University Programming and Activities information coordinator, said Sigma Nu Fraternity is sponsoring horse and carriage rides from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The tour will start at the east lagoon and wind through parts of the campus and DeKalb.
The rides cost $15 per couple and will be held until Dec. 16, Kehoe said.
