Oh no! It’s a little sister! You know Marianne, the “almost extinct” girls in the greek system? Well, you’ve got a lot to learn.
First of all, little sisters at Western Illinois University don’t even compare and shouldn’t be compared to us here at NIU. Our rushes for little sisters are formal just like the fraternities and sororities. And we never had to do any of that “BS” your so-called friend told you about. Hazing is illegal, so why would you ever think that we’re subjected to that? Or do you even know? Also about drinking, if someone under 21 does drink, that’s her own choice. No one can make them do anything.
And why are we becoming “extinct”, as you say? It’s not because we’re not liked or anything like that, it’s because we’re insured by our fraternities, and it’s becoming too expensive. But some fraternities still have little sisters and are willing to pay the price for the “unsignificant” girls, as you would call them. They do have a certain significance, my dear. Many of them build life-long friendships with other members of the house. And it is a good place to meet these friends.
If you think it’s all about getting “blasted,” you’re very wrong. So before you go about “ripping” greeks and their little sisters again, we suggest you know what you’re talking about first.
