Buildings’ holiday hours vary

NIU students might have reason to give some thanks since all university classes will be canceled after noon on Wednesday until Monday, Nov. 28.

All university offices will close their doors for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and will reopen at 8 a.m. Nov. 28.

However, the public safety department is scheduled to remain open throughout the holiday weekend. Those who need to contact the University Police during the weekend can call 753-1212.

Several other university facilities will operate on altered schedules for the convenience of students who plan to remain in DeKalb during the weekend.

Founder’s Memorial Library will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Sunday. The library will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday.

The Holmes Student Center will close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday and reopen at noon on Sunday.

The Huskie Bus Lines will make their final runs before 6 p.m. on Wednesday, with the last Sycamore bus leaving from Sycamore at 1 p.m. There will be no bus service from Thursday to Saturday. Regular bus service will resume Sunday.

The University Health Service will close at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday and resume service at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. Students requiring emergency medical attention during the holiday weekend can go to Kishwaukee Community Hospital in Sycamore.
