Students who are interested in learning more about Tae Kwon Do can attend a demonstration on Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. in Anderson Gym.
Jim Shipley, vice president of NIU’s Tae Kwon Do Club, said, “(The demonstration’s) basically to enlighten people about it (Tae Kwon Do). It’s the fastest growing martial art in the United States.”
The demonstration will consist of different aspects and techniques of Tae Kwon Do, including breaking of boards and bricks, free-fighting events and self-defense, Shipley said.
The club, which has about 40 members, began three years ago. “About one-third of the members are female,” he said.
