Today at 7 p.m. a funeral service will be held at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 615 N. First St., for NIU journalism professor Irvan Kummerfeldt.

Kummerfeldt, 55, died Saturday night of a heart attack while he was working with his wife Barbara at the Egyptian Theatre, 135 N. Second St.

Private burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in DeKalb. There will be no visitation.

An Irvan J. Kummerfeldt Memorial Fund will be established in his memory. Gifts may be sent to Mrs. Kummerfeldt at her home, 121 Ebbesen Dr., DeKalb.
