‘Open your eyes’
October 19, 1988
I cannot believe the ignorance of James Kappel and I am still wondering what influenced him to write the letter to the editor “Leave SCOPA be” in The Northern Star on Oct. 11.
James, what gives you the right to generalize about the greek population? How dare you call other greeks and I affluent when you do not even know us.
Sorry pal, but my “daddy and mommy” do not pay for anything dealing with my education. Maybe if you open your eyes you will see that many of us work at the same places non-greeks work, we wait in the same loan check lines, and we do have “to deal with worring about books or food”. Greeks are no better or worse off than non-greeks. It is unfortunate that your narrow mind does not enable you to see that.
Why are you so uninformed about our fight against the tuition increase? In case you did not know, last semester many greek houses along with other NIU students wrote letters to the Illinois senators speaking out against tuition increase. Why is it that the people who complain the most act the least? James, if you are so concerned about greeks holding many of the SA positions then do something about it!
