SCOPA receives new co-chairman
September 20, 1988
The Student Committee on Political Action has a new co-chairman after Fritz Feibig resigned because his views differed with other committee members.
Student Association President Paula Radtke appointed Mike Goldstein to replace Feibig.
Tuesday’s SCOPA meeting drew a scant six members, including co-chairman Renee Lilly and Fiebig.
“All that (the resignation) means is I am giving up my title…I will still be working with SCOPA,” Fiebig said.
Fiebig declined to elaborate on why he resigned as co-chairman, saying he did “not want to isolate any of the other members.”
However, he did say, “There was not a consensus of people with common beliefs” attending the meeting, naming the College Republicans, Young Democrats and other groups.
Goldstein and Lilly agreed the internal debates during the previous two meetings of the semester “disillusioned” the returning SCOPA members from last semester, resulting in Tuesday night’s low turnout.
“This week will be a rebuilding week for SCOPA,” Goldstein said.
