Columnist discusses love, sex
January 27, 1988
A senior staff writer and columnist for Playboy magazine will be on campus tonight to present a lecture and discussion on love, sex and relationships.
James Petersen, author of “The Playboy Advisor” column for nearly 15 years, will lecture about his experiences at Playboy and field questions from the audience.
His column receives an average of 500 letters monthly from both male and female readers on topics ranging from fashion and dating etiquette, to love and sex, a press release stated. Petersen also has written two books relating his experiences at Playboy.
“This is the first campus appearance for a Playboy speaker,” said Jerry Reedy, a Campus Activities Board spokesman. “It is a good opportunity for students here on campus to ask questions about relationships.”
Petersen said he “probably knows about as much as there is to know about sex as anyone in America.” He compiled “The Playboy Readers’ Sex Survey,” the largest study in the field, which included the preferences, interests and attitudes of almost 100,000 people.
Petersen has appeared on the Phil Donahue Show, Late Night with David Letterman, Merv Griffin, Hour Magazine, and The Larry King Show.
Reedy said to preserve confidentiality, anyone wishing to ask questions privately can write them on paper and submit them to the CAB office today or bring them to the presentation.
The CAB office is located in the lower level of the Holmes Student Center.
The 9 p.m. lecture in Sandburg Auditorium is free and sponsored by CAB.
