Poster Contest
October 22, 1987
I want to take this opportunity to thank on behalf of the Poster Committee all those persons who participated in the recent “Unity Through Diversity” Poster Contest. A number of very fine posters were received which in one way or another spoke to the theme. all contributions were appreciated.
Congratualtions go especially to the artists who were awarded the first, second and third place prizes, James DeYoung, Paul Ross, and Kevin DeNardo, respectively. The first place poster will be reproduced and distributed for use on campus this year by the N.I.U. Foundation.
I am especially grateful to Mr. Herb Katz and Mr. James Mason who donated the first place prize of $250, the Finn Brothers of Pizza Villa for the second place prize of $100 and to Mr. Stan Shedaker, manager of the Holmes Center Bookstore, for the $25 gift certificate for the third prize.
Those persons who assisted in the judging of the posters, Dr. Vesta Daniels, Mr. Larry Robinson, ms. Pamela Bozeman, Ms. Nan Wolgel and Mr. Carlos Grandos played an extremely important role in our project and our thanks go to each of them.
Finally, I want to express our appreciation to Dr. LaTourette for establishing this special time to celebrate the many different contributions made by a wide variety of persons and groups to the life of our University and our world.
