University offices closed Fridays
June 23, 1987
Those who need to contact NIU offices this summer should keep in mind that NIU’s four-day summer work week will be in effect until Thursday, Aug. 13.
The summer schedule means most university offices will be open Mondays through Thursdays from 7:30 a.m. until noon and from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. but will be closed on Fridays. The regular Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. schedule will resume Monday, Aug. 17.
NIU also will be closed Monday, July 6, because of the national July 4 observance. Most university offices will be open Tuesday through Thursday of that week, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Despite the summer hours for most offices, NIU’s Holmes Student Center and Founders Memorial Library will be open Fridays and a portion of each weekend. For information concerning individual office hours, contact the Campus Assistance Center, the center’s main office or the library information desk.
After a survey of Civil Service employees showed 69 percent of 800 responses supported the four-day work week, NIU President John LaTourette indicated his support.
