April 5, 1987
DeKalb Police have stopped investigating the apparent suicide of a 65-year-old man found dead Thursday in front of 2621 James Court Apartments, off of North First Street.
DeKalb Police Sgt. Chuck Kross said there will be no further investigation of the apparent suicide.
Robert Harrison, 2621 James Court apt. 5, died of a gunshot wound to the head, Kross said. The wound was apparently self-inflicted, Kross said.
Harrison was found lying on his back at the bottom of the building’s stairs at about 2:30 p.m. after someone reported that a man had been shot, police said.
Kross said there were no witnesses and said Harrison, who was retired, had been sick for a while.
DeKalb County Coroner Dennis Miller conducted an autopsy Friday, an employee of the coroner’s office said. The results of the autopsy were not available Friday afternoon.
arrison was pronounced dead at 3:21 p.m. Thursday, the coroner’s office employee said.
arrison’s death was the third apparent suicide in DeKalb in the last three weeks. Three weeks ago a 22-year-old man was found dead in a running car in his family’s closed garage. Two weeks ago a 79-year-old man was found dead by a friend. The man also was found in a running car in a closed garage.
