A 36-year-old man was charged with indecent exposure by the University Police Friday after he turned himself in to authorities.
University Police Sgt. Roger Taylor said Michael Ryan, 36, of Rockford turned himself over to his lawyer, DeKalb attorney Scott Erwin, and later turned himself in to police.
Erwin said he and Ryan learned there was a warrant out for Ryan’s arrest and turned him in to prevent further problems. Erwin said he is Ryan’s attorney.
yan was aware that a University Police detective was looking for him, Taylor said.
Taylor said Ryan allegedly exposed himself on three separate occasions. One incident of exposure was reported in DuSable and one was reported in the Music building, Taylor said. He said he did not remember where the third incident occurred.
yan allegedly exposed himself by wearing sweatpants with a split out crotch, Taylor said. Ryan supposedly would sit in the lobbies of buildings and expose himself as people walked by, Taylor said. Taylor said in the Music building incident, Ryan exposed himself to the NIU Silverettes.
yan was released Friday on bond, which was set at $1,500, Taylor said.
