Fire dept. examines office fire

A fire at the Kishwaukee Professional Building, 8 Health Service Dr., caused $250,000 worth of damage to a dentist’s office Monday afternoon, a DeKalb Fire Department report stated.
The cause of the fire, which began in the office of Dr. Dennis Collins, is still under investigation, the report stated. The fire started in the laboratory area of the office, and the damage was a result of fire, heat, smoke and water, the report also stated.
According to the report, the employees at Midwest Eye Surgeons told the people in the building to evacuate. There were no injuries.
The report stated the fire was under control within 13 minutes, and 13 firefighters helped put out the blaze.
When reached by telephone, Dr. Collins had no comment on the fire that started in his office.
