Due to an expected increase in traffic as NIU students move into housing, the university will set up a detour 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, according to a NIU release.

Cars exiting Route 88 will be directed west onto Fairview Drive for 2 miles, north onto Nelson Road for 2 miles and east onto Lincoln Highway to campus. Police officers will be directing traffic, according to the release. Signs are posted alongside campus thoroughfares with directions toward NIU residence halls.

Roads on NIU’s west campus will be closed from 2 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, according to the release. The area is bounded by the Convocation Center and Annie Glidden Road from west to east and Grant Drive and Route 38 from north to south. All parking lots in this area will be closed.

Parking is available in Lot C3, north of the Convocation Center, and Lot K on Lincoln Highway, next to Popeye’s Chicken, 1127 W. Lincoln Highway.
