Fourth of July events around DeKalb

Independence Day will be celebrated around DeKalb throughout the day. The DeKalb Public Library will be closed for the holiday.
Independence Run 5K
What Run or walk a 5K organized by the DeKalb Park District. The race will be chip timed. The event is family friendly. Stollers, bikes and dogs are not allowed during the race for safety reasons.
When 8:30 to 11 a.m. On-site registration from 7:30 to 8 a.m. for $30.
Where Behind the Hopkins Community Center, 1403 Sycamore Road. Parking available in southwest lot or surrounding streets. The northeast entrance, parking lot and shelter parking will be closed.
Six-Pack Rocks party
What The cover band Six-Pack Rocks will be hosting a party in celebration of Independence Day. The family-friendly event will have food and drinks available.
When 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. for food. Band plays at 1:30 p.m.

Fourth of July celebration
What Hopkins park will be open and stocked with food booths from local vendors. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets. Fireworks begin at dusk, during the municipal band’s performance.

Free DeKalb Municipal Band concert
What The DeKalb Municipal Band, now in it’s 165th year of free concerts, will be performing a show titled “A Star Spangled Spectacular,” featuring vocalist Karen Manley Kahler.
When 8 to 10 p.m.

Rock & Roll bash at 7Th Street Space
What The bands Blunt, Cloud Cruiser, Canyyn and Dumb Chunks will be playing a rock show. $3 to $5 donations to the venue are encouraged.
When Doors at 6:30 p.m., show starts at 7 p.m.
