Fire damage has displaced 140 tenants living in Ridgebrook Apartments, 808 Ridge Drive, according to DeKalb police.

A press release sent at 8:27 a.m. says DeKalb fire and police departments responded 10:54 p.m. Tuesday to reports of an active fire on the third floor of the building. Several injuries were reported to have occurred and six patients were taken to Kishwaukee Hospital for treatment, according to police.

The police are investigating the incident as potential arson, according to a safety bulletin released 1:28 a.m. by the NIU Police Department.

The building was immediately condemned from the damage, displacing 140 tenants. American Red Cross and the DeKalb County Housing Authority were contacted to assist in providing temporary emergency shelter, according to the release.
