Justin Timberlake and Missy Elliott become doctors

Pop stars Justin Timberlake and Missy Elliott received honorary doctorate degrees from Berklee College of Music Saturday.

“This year’s honorary doctorate recipients are being recognized for their achievements and influences in music, and for their enduring global impact,” Berklee said in an official statement.  “Hamilton” composer Alex Lacamoire was also honored with a degree for his work in the Tony Award winning musical as well as “In the Heights” and “Dear Evan Hansen.”

Both Elliott and Timberlake posted pictures on Instagram with their diplomas to encourage fans trying to follow their dreams.

“No dream is too big! Keep chasing [it]! Trust me… I’m a doctor!” Timberlake said in his post Saturday. “But, for real… thank you to [Berklee College of Music] for this incredible honor — I’m very humbled and grateful.”

“Create your own lane!” Elliott said in a post Saturday. “Sincerely Dr. Missy Elliott.”

Both artists gave commencement speeches to the graduating class.
