Northern Star Treasure Hunt 2019 has ended

On day three of the Northern Star Treasure Hunt, the medallion has been found and the hunt is over. Taylor Hartman, FLSL program coordinator and adult and higher education doctoral student, and Susan Miceli, senior physical therapy major, found the medallion Wednesday under the Jack Arends Hall staircase.

Hartman has been participating in the treasure hunt for a few years, and this is Miceli’s first time participating.

Hartman said the treasure was not in plain sight under the staircase; he really had to look and go behind the staircase in order to find the medallion.

“I waited for the second day to start looking for [the medallion],” Hartman said. “I was actually looking in the same area [where the medallion was], but it was too dark [to find].”

Hartman said he was able to find the medallion Wednesday because Wednesday’s clue validated he was searching in the correct place.

Miceli and Hartman said their favorite part of the hunt was throwing ideas around amongst themselves and their friends about where the medallion could be hidden.

“Start groups [to search], it’s more fun to do with friends,” Miceli said.
