Self-defense classes being offered on campus
March 17, 2019
NIU cares about the safety of students and is offering self-defense classes during the next two Saturdays. From 5 to 9 p.m. on March 16 and 23, students will have the opportunity to learn safety tips and awareness, as well as get hands-on experience practicing self-defense.
The Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) Self-Defense program aims to “Challenge society to evolve into an existence where violence is not an acceptable part of daily life,” according to R.A.D.’s website.
Register online through the NIU’s Department of Police and Public Safety website. Students will need to sign up for both sessions in order to get the certificate of completion. This program is free.
