Dining halls alter hours as temperatures continue decline

By Northern Star Staff

NIU students, faculty and staff can expect limited or reduced hours for campus dining today, one of the few services operating during temperature closures.

Gilbert, Neptune, Stevenson and New Hall Dining will remain open today, with limited hours. All dining centers open at 11 a.m. and close at 6:30 p.m, according to the Campus Dining Services website.

The Huskie Bus Line will not resume operations until noon Thursday and SafeLine will not be offering services until 11 p.m. Thursday.

All students, faculty and staff are encouraged to exercise good judgement if going outside for any reason, to wear loose, layered clothing and limit exposure to the elements.

The city of DeKalb will be operating several warming centers in the city. Any city resident can seek refuge from extreme temperatures during their operating hours. These include the DeKalb Senior Center, 330 Grove Street, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the Haish Gymnasium, 303 S. Ninth Street, from 6 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. and the DeKalb Public Library, 309 Oak Street, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
