DeKALB — The Student Association moved to approve three new senators-at-large Sunday, approving, junior business major Jonathon Peters, sophomore environmental sciences major Mia Griffin and economics graduate student Masud Alam.

Speaker Tristan Martin said the appointments signify considerable changes to SA’s representation of the student body.

Peters is a transfer student, and said he hopes to present issues relevant to nontraditional students while a senator.

Griffin said she hopes to push for changes to NIU’s sustainability efforts and service SA’s environmental commission, which was acknowledged by various SA representatives as currently understaffed.

Alam, an international student working toward an economics P.h.D., said he hopes to connect other international students to services in and around campus.
