Eugene German sentenced

Junior guard Eugene German plead guilty to one charge of battery that caused bodily harm on Thursday in a DeKalb County Courthouse open court hearing.
German was sentenced to 12 months of supervision, 30 hours of community service and ordered to pay a $801 fine, according to the DeKalb County Circuit Clerk report.
German was charged with four counts of battery by the NIU Police Department stemming from an incident on May 5.
German and two other players, senior guard Dante Thorpe and sophomore guard Zaire Mateen were suspended from the the team following the three players being charged with retail theft on Oct. 24.
Thorpe and Mateen both returned on Friday and played in the Huskies 88-85 loss to the Northern Kentucky Norse.
The NIU Athletic Department declined a request for comment at this time.
