DeKALB — For the 49th consecutive year, DeKalb resident Gary Mullis will host the Country Music Show and “Toys for Tots” Toy Drive.

The event will take place from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Taylor Street Plaza High Rise, 507 East Taylor Street. Admission fees will go to the Salvation Army helping to purchase one new children’s toy, according to the news release.

The show will feature live artists of various genres including country, bluegrass, gospel music and Christmas songs. Some of the artists include Mullis, a bluegrass band and Matthew Little John. Performers are welcome.

Mullis started the show and toy drive in December 1970 in Cortland. He is a songwriter and winner of platinum and gold records, according to the news release. He was also added to the VIP Songwriter’s Hall of Fame Museum in Lexington, Alabama in 2014, where his records are on display.

The annual event has taken place in many venues over the years, and Mullis continues to organize it.
