NIU to open Northwestern Medicine Performance Center
October 3, 2018
NIU Associate Vice-President and Director of Athletics Sean T. Frazier announced Wednesday that NIU will create the Northwestern Medicine Performance Center Wednesday, according to a NIU Athletics news release.
The performance center will turn the existing weight room in the Yordon Center into a sports performance area with a nutrition center.
The Northwestern Medicine Performance Center joins the gymnastics vault pit and the Nelson Club renovation inside the NIU Convocation Center as the third major project from NIU Athletics’ Campaign to Sustain.
The performance center will serve all of NIU’s student-athletes and will include renovations and adjustments to the existing areas on the east end of the Yordon Center and Barsema Hall of Champions.
Pending approval by the NIU Board of Trustees, construction on the Northwestern Medicine Performance Center, including the Nutrition Center will begin during the Spring 2019 semester.
