Oscar-nominated actor Richard Jenkins will be at Northern Illinois University on 2 p.m. Tuesday for a Q & A with students in the Stevens Building’s O’Connell Theatre.  

The event precedes the final film to be screened at the Egyptian Theatre, 135 N. 2nd St., as a part of the Richard Jenkins film series, “The Shape of Water.” The screening begins at 7 p.m., and Jenkins will be present to answer audience questions following the film.

Richard Jenkins grew up in DeKalb and attended DeKalb High School, and this series has allowed NIU students and DeKalb residents to engage with the work of a fellow DeKalb-ian.

Each installment of the series was hand-picked by Jenkins, showcasing the films and performances he deemed to be his personal favorites.

Jenkins’ film career includes Oscar nominations for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Walter Vale in 2009’s “The Visitor” and as Giles in 2017 Best Picture winner, “The Shape of Water.”

Jenkins also won the 2015 Emmy Award for Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for HBO’s “Olive Kitteridge,” wherein he played Henry Kitteridge, the husband of Frances McDormand’s Olive.

The Q and A is free and open to the public, and Alex Gelman, Director of the School of Theatre and Dance at NIU, will moderate the session.
