Board approves use of search firm to conduct national search for vice president and provost

DeKALB – Newly appointed university president Lisa Freeman gave her first report following her Thursday afternoon in which she announced the NIU Board of Trustees would be conducting a national search for an Executive Vice President and Provost while utilizing the services of a private research firm.
The motion was approved unanimously by the Board. The search will be conducted through a compiled list of possible candidates from various educational institutions across the U.S.
In the capacity of Executive Vice President and Provost, the individual who will fill this role will serve as NIU’s chief academic officer. The duties associated with this position include coordinating the academic mission of the university, managing student’s studies and adapting policy for faculty and administrators.
