Five Huskies sign training camp deals

DeKalb — Five undrafted Huskie football players signed training camp deals with NFL teams for the upcoming mini-camps, according the NIU Football’s Facebook page.

Shane Wimann, a fullback and tight end, signed with the New England Patriots. He led the Huskies in receiving touchdowns with seven in 2017 and owns the school record for most touchdowns by a tight end.

Running back Jordan Huff signed a deal to attend the Tampa Bay Buccaneers camp after averaging 6.9 yards per carry over the course his career. He ran for 740 yards and four touchdowns during the 2017 season.

Wide receiver Chad Beebe signed with the Indianapolis Colts following a season where he caught 28 passes for 417 yards.

Another Huskie wideout Christian Blake signed with the Atlanta Falcons after catching 42 passes for 449 yards in 2017.

Huskie alumnus Corey Thomas will receive a chance with the Bears this offseason after spending the 2017 training camp with the Atlanta Falcons. Thomas had 102 career tackles over his career for the Huskies.
