Empty Bowls Help Feed the Community

Students, staff and community members joined in the effort to help end hunger in the DeKalb community Wednesday in Adams Hall. 

The NIU Student Dietetic Association, with Bread for the World, hosted the annual fundraiser Empty Bowls Project Wednesday in Adams Hall said Paulina Karecka, President of the NIU Dietetic Association. The project is an nation wide organization that helps fight hunger in local communities. The fundraiser offered all you can eat soup and bread with the purchase of a ceramic bowl created by local high schools and the NIU Ceramics Club. There were also the options to purchase extra bowls, t shirts, raffle tickets and homemade jam. All the proceeds from the event will go to the Huskie Food Pantry and Hope Haven.
