DeKALB — Eight sophomore students have been selected for the LEaD Huskies 2017-18 class.
“This is an impressive group of student-athletes,” said Matthew Streb, Chief of Staff Director, according to NIU Media Services. “They have a combined GPA of over 3.9, are active in the community and are already being recognized with prestigious athletic awards.”
Honorees include gymnasts Amanda Bartemio and Allison Richardson, women’s soccer forward Natalie Yass, baseball catcher Jake Dunham, men’s golfer Jordan Less, women’s golfer Isabella Samudio and women’s basketball forwards Ally May and guard Myia Starks.
LEaD stands for Leadership Enhancement and Development, and these athletes became the sixth LEaD Huskie class since the program was created in 2013-14.
“I fully expect that this new class will achieve the same success as our past cohorts and meet the high expectations we have for these students,” Streb said, according to NIU Media Services.
