DeKalb Update— Police have secured the area and roads have been reopened. 

DeKalb SWAT team secured a home on the corner of First St. and Pine St. where an unnamed suspect was apprehended at 3:23pm. 

Police officials have not release any information or further updates.

DeKalb —Police have asked people to avoid the area between First St. and Fisk Ave, and a swat vehicle is on the corner.

DeKalb Police, DeKalb County Sheriff Police and NIU Campus Police are on the scene.

All traffic has been stopped on First St. between Sycamore Road and Augusta Avenue, according to a Thursday NIU Safety Bulletin.

Police officials are not providing further details and have asked residents to remain in their homes until further notice.
