Woods recognized for recent play

Courtney Woods, women’s basketball junior guard, earned Mid-American Conference West Division co-player of the Week Tuesday. Woods averaged a double-double in two games this past week.
Woods averaged 27 points and 12.5 rebounds per game. She shot 57 percent from the field and 53 percent from beyond the arc. The Huskie junior scored 17 points and pulled in 10 rebounds Wednesday at Ohio.
Woods pulled in a career-high 15 rebounds and scored a game-high of 37 points Saturday against Ball State. This game was her team-leading fifth double-double of the season and fourth career game scoring 30 points. Woods shot 66 percent from the field and from her 14 made field goals, seven were from behind the arc.
This is Woods’ third time receiving the award and the third for the Huskies this season. She earned the honor Nov. 21 after facing Western Illinois and Iowa. She also earned the award on Jan. 10 after she led the team to wins against MAC rivals Kent State and Buffalo. Sophomore guard Myia Starks also won the award this season.
The Huskies will return to action 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Convocation Center against the Miami RedHawks.
