Fall comfort food recipe for dorms

Not having an oven or a conventional kitchen in residence halls makes it hard to concoct fall comfort food, but there are ways around this obstacle to help satisfy students’ hunger and sweet, late night cravings.

Here is a salted caramel mug cake that can be made in the microwave, sure to bring fall comfort to any student’s stomach. Simple and easy, this snack will take just minutes to complete.

Ingredients:

• 3 tablespoons butter

• 1 egg

• 3 tablespoons milk

• 4 tablespoons flour

• 3 tablespoons brown sugar

• ½ teaspoon baking powder

• ½ teaspoon sea salt

• 2 tablespoons caramel

Utensils:

• One mug

• Fork

Steps:

1. Place butter into a mug and microwave for 10 seconds or until completely melted.

2. Add eggs and milk into the mug and beat them together with a fork to combine.

3. Add in flour, brown sugar, baking powder and sea salt to the mug.

4. Beat with a fork until all ingredients are combined.

5. Add the one tablespoon of caramel on top.

6. Heat in the microwave for one minute.

7. If the cake is not fully cooked, heat for 10 seconds at a time until fully cooked.

8. Drizzle the rest of the caramel on top of the cake and enjoy.
