DeKalb police warn of package thefts

DeKALB — DeKalb Police Department officials are warning residents after investigating several theft reports in the area in the past couple weeks.

Packages were reported to be stolen from the front of homes when delivery agencies left them there unattended.

The thefts were reported at various locations within DeKalb. No one has been arrested for the incidents, but the investigation is ongoing, and there will be extra patrols provided throughout the holiday season until the culprits have been identified, according to a Nov. 27 DeKalb Police Department press release.

Department officials recommend residents track their packages for expected delivery times and keep a porch light on for night deliveries. If a resident is unavailable when his or her package is supposed to arrive, officials recommend having it delivered to a neighbor, friend or a place of work.
