Leggo My Pumpkin Eggo

By Eve Grunauer

October is the perfect time to eat everything and anything pumpkin spice. The Northern Star created a poll to find out what I should try after my PSL experience, and Eggo Pumpkin Spice waffles were the winner. Should you start your day off with pumpkin spice? Let’s find out!

First of all, I had to drive all the way to Target in South Elgin, 530 Randall Rd., the nearest store which had the Pumpkin Spice Waffles. After my nice, long drive, I was ready to chow down on the delicious waffles which cost me $2.56.

Before I even took them out of the toaster, it smelled like I walked into a bakery. I decided even if the waffles tasted gross I’d still toast them just to make my apartment smell amazing. In fact, my roommate came out of her room asking what I was baking and if she could have some. For my experiment, I decided to eat the waffle plain even though the picture on the box had whipped cream that was calling my name.

Yes, they taste just as delicious as they smell. So delicious that now I have a serious problem: because I have to drive all the way to South Elgin to feed my new addiction. The pumpkin spice isn’t too strong but still tastes amazing without syrup or whipped cream. Honestly, I would eat these for any meal but because I only get six in a box, I’m going to have to ration these for special occasions… even though I want to eat the entire box right now as we speak.

If you want to help decide what I try next, tweet #EveExperiments to @NIUNorthernStar or vote in the poll going live today at 12 p.m.
