Summertime is perfect for sleeping in, adventuring, earning some extra cash for college and catching up on the most recent happenings in T.V. and movies.

Netflix, one of the world’s largest content-streaming services, prides itself on its constant influx of television shows, movies and original entertainment. Every month, Netflix releases a list of content premiering on their website and content being removed. Netflix maintains a good balance between blockbusters, classics and independent filmsand manages to stay on top of the latest entertainment trends.

With the heat of summer approaching fast, now is a great time to find a comfy pair of pajamas and enjoy some air conditioning while watching any of these new additions.

“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”, premiering July 18, 2017

Any loyal “Star Wars” fan would have seen this movie in theaters at minimum three times, but sometimes life gets busy and forces people to postpone their hobbies. Good news: the newest addition to the prequel family has arrived for fan’s viewing pleasure. “Rogue One” follows the story of a young Jyn Erso, played by Felicity Jones, as she joins the Rebel Alliance and discovers her unlimited potential as a fearless warrior. Jyn and her fellow Rebels devise a plan to infiltrate the Order from within and steal the Death Star plans.

“The Standups” Season One, premiered July 4, 2017.

Six of L.A.’s freshest comedians take the stage for six half-hour specials in the original show “The Standups.” Featuring the talents of Nate Bargatze, Deon Cole, Fortune Feimster, Nikki Glaser, Dan Soder and Beth Stelling, each 30 minute episode is the perfect dose of comedy. Until now, Comedy Central has been the only network to broadcast half-hour stand-up specials featuring up-and-coming talent. With raw material and a true knack for joke-telling, this Netflix original series is giving Comedy Central a run for their money.

“E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial”, premiered July 1, 2017.

Take a stroll down memory lane with Steven Spielberg’s 1982 sci-fi family classic “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.” Elliot, a simple boy from a suburban neighborhood, discovers a kind, Reese’s-Pieces loving alien in the woods. The film tells their heartwarming tale of true friendship as Elliot plans to send E.T. back to his home planet. “E.T.” is considered one of the most iconic films in history, boasting a talented cast, beautiful narrative and spectacular acting performances showing friendship can be found in the oddest of places.
